Spain 1-0 Italy Spain secured their spot in the Euro 2024 knockout stage after a dominant 1-0 game against Italy. Following their comfortable win in the opening match against Croatia, Spain only managed a narrow win in this night’s game. They had several opportunities throughout the game but were denied by an outstanding defense of Italy’s goalkeeper, Gianluigi Donnarumma. But they were able to get their momentum as they entered the 55th minute of the match. Amidst all the fighting for the ball possession, Riccardo Calafiori was able to perfectly deflect off the ball striking a goal in an instant. After Spain’s excellent tip-over from a close range, the defending champion, Italy wasn’t able to score a goal resulting in their first loss in the Euro 2024. This match showcased the battle of the two giants fighting for their second win of the tournament but in the end, Spain remained the team that took home the victory placing them as the top team of Group B. Slovenia 1-1 Serbia Following their loss to the opening match, Serbia clung to hope in their dying moments against Slovenia, snatching a heart-stopping 1-1 equalizer. In the opening minutes, both teams had several opportunities to kick a goal but they failed not until the second half began where Slovenia earned their first point of the night. Zan Karnicnik delivered a left-footed shot from close range giving his team the lead at 68th minute. But as the match closed to an end in the 96th minute, despite the pressure given to his team, Luka Jovic gave an excellent header from a very close range equalizing the score of the match. The draw leaves both of the groups a hope to win their respective matches. Slovenia tops the group with two points from two games but has yet to register a win while Serbia is bottom on one point and needing victory in its final game against home team Denmark to progress. Denmark 1-1 England Another match ends with a draw as Denmark comes back from a 1-1 game against England. Despite England taking the lead in the 18th minute through Harry Kane’s short-range goals, their performance dropped deep after scoring, allowing Denmark to turn the tables. Just before the first half ended, 34th minute, Denmark saw a golden opportunity to make the score a draw as Hjumland scored a goal 30 yards out from the net making a stunning strike. England made an excellent Even the disappointing draw has not derailed England, which remains top of Group C and requires only a point against Slovenia to reach the knockout stages. But their performance against Denmark has left doubts as they prepare to make a bid for the title. All told, they will have to get better significantly if they plan on going deep in the tournament.
Euro 2024: Romania, Slovakia, and France Claim Opening Match Wins

Romania 3-0 Ukraine After 24 years of waiting, Romania has finally pulled off their first win at the European Championship. A 3-0 victory against Ukraine definitely gave Romania a great start. In the first 20 minutes of the game, Ukraine had the upper hand, thanks to the powerful long-range short form of their captain, Nicolae Stanciu. But their moments immediately ended due to one mistake made by their goalkeeper, giving a golden opportunity to Romania. Their opponent’s missed chances allowed them to score two more goals in the second half with a long-range strike by Romania’s defensive midfielder Razvan Marvin and an excellent finish off a corner by Denis Dragus. Through their team’s tremendous determination throughout the game, the match ended as coach Edward Lordanescu anticipated. After a strong defense held Ukraine scoreless, a jubilant Romanian team and fans celebrated the well-deserved victory. Even though there are still a lot of matches that need to be won, Romania’s first win in this year’s European Championship marked a historical milestone for the team breaking their winless streak in the finals. Belgium 0 -1 Slovakia In a Group E opener between Belgium and Slovakia, only a single goal was made by Ivan Schranz that dictates the winner of the game. The match was decided by a narrow 1-0 scoreline, in the end in favor of Slovakia which marked Belgium’s first defeat under coach Domenico Tedesco in 16 matches. Despite controlling the ball for most of the game, Belgium had a hard time getting their many opportunities to go in. Their talisman Romelu Lukaku had two VAR-ruled goals disallowed and missed a hatful of chances to score. Tedesco admitted the squandered opportunities but insists there is no reason to worry just yet. Slovakia took advantage by netting an early goal from Ivan Schranz and tightened things up in the back the rest of the way. They had some shots of their own, though, leaving Thibaut Courtois to make good stops. Despite having various scoring opportunities, Belgium’s performance has some shortfalls, failing to break Slovakian’s defense. Due to this unexpected loss, Belgium ended their night with disappointment, the complete opposite of Slovakia which found themselves level with Romania in Group E. Austria 0-1 France France Wins First Match Of Euro 2024, Beats Austria 1-0 In Group D Opener. It was France coach Didier Deschamps’ 100th win in charge of the national team. However, the victory was soured in the final minutes as star striker Kylian Mbappé looked to have picked up a nasty injury. The game itself was a close encounter. Austria was an efficient and resilient side, employing an energetic and high press that troubled the French. France controlled possession but could not make a telling chance. Mbappé’s ability, and a slice of good fortune, had opened how moments later, seconds before half-time, the breakthrough arrived. His electric run and cross led to an own goal by Austrian defender Max Wober. At the match finale, France ended their night with mixed emotions. Although they secured their valuable win, Mbappé’s injury is not to be taken lightly. If they want to progress in the Euro 2024, France needs their players to keep healthy like Mbappé’s.

Sunday Football Review: Liverpool Climb To Summit Following Eithad Statement

EPL: Aston Villa 2–0 Wolves Aston Villa gained a convincing 2-0 victory over Wolves, which saw them bounce back into the top four of the Premier League table. This victory comes after a difficult period for Villa, involving a home loss against Tottenham and a draw against West Ham. Even though they conceded a goal, Moussa Diaby and Ezri Konsa’s goals gave them a needed victory and allowed them to think about gaining a place in the Champions League. On the part of Wolverhampton, the team was struggling to keep up with a rebounding Villa side. They were outplayed. Disappointingly, despite the Wolves being without key attackers due to injuries, they didn’t stand a chance in terms of consistency and effectiveness on the field, which is Aston Villa’s greatest strength under manager Unai Emery. This success is a clear-cut mountain that Villa has climbed, making sure that they have three points more than Tottenham with a game to spare, which is just the beginning of the thrilling race towards the top-four spot. EPL: Brentford 1–1 Man Utd In a nail-biting Premier League match, Brentford were granted a last-minute equalizer via Kristoffer Ajer in the 99th minute, ultimately ending in a 1-1 draw with Manchester United. This outcome hits United in the head as they appear to have failed to qualify for the Champions League next season. Even with Mason Mount scoring the last-minute goal, it seems like Brentford deserves to be rewarded, as they consistently ruled the game until Ajer scored the winning goal. Even though Brentford is now sitting comfortably above the relegation zone, Manchester United’s road to the Champions League becomes even more difficult. EPL: Liverpool 2–1 Brighton Jurgen Klopp’s brilliant strategies of counter attacking help Liverpool win. They were able to outwit their opponents and take the lead both in the first half and the second half. Their victory pushed them to the top spot in the Premier League table after the match. Mohamed Salah netted the only goal of the game in the second half after Brighton caught the Seagulls by surprise by taking a lead through Danny Welbeck in the early minutes of the match. Liverpool was unable to score despite having the most of the play until Diaz equalized for the team in the first half. The game was intense despite many close score lines until Salah gave them the lead; however, a last offside call canceled Diaz’s potential third goal. But in the end, Liverpool held on for the win and extended their lead in the title race. EPL: Man City 0–0 Arsenal Arsenal held the defending champions, Manchester City, to a scoreless draw. This key match allowed Liverpool to snatch the top spot after their victory earlier that day. The much-anticipated match between the two titans ended in disappointment, as Manchester City mostly controlled the ball, but their offense fell short of expectations. On the other hand, Arsenal ended their losing streak at the Etihad and extended their unbeaten run by frustrating their opponents with a strong defensive performance despite the taunting from the crowd. However, while both teams were disappointed not to win, Arsenal believed that they were good enough to take a point from the fixture, which was a significant improvement from their heavy defeat last season. This game was a championship final destination when all three top contenders met for the last time this season, and nine games were still left to be played.
Saturday Football Review: EPL Weekend Full of Goals

This Saturday’s Premier League match features six teams’ determination, with some aiming to go up in the relegation zone and others aiming to remain in the top spot. Teams such as Newcastle United, Bournemouth, and Tottenham were able to secure a win, while West Ham, Everton, and Luton failed to do the same. Every team was determined to climb to the top of the table in the Premier League, but still, some teams had to settle for draws in the end. Newcastle United 4-3 West Ham A dramatic comeback was made by Newcastle, 4-3, as they faced West Ham in the early Saturday match. Although West Ham had a good start, scoring three unanswered goals following an Isak penalty, Newcastle gave an incredible last-winning game with just 13 minutes remaining. Harvey Barnes served as the key player in the team’s stunning win with a cool finish. They proved that despite struggling with a string of injuries, they are capable of moving into 8th place. This victory will pave the way for Newcastle’s European aspirations, as a defeat would have significantly hampered their chances. Bournemouth 2–1 Everton In a dramatic turn of events, Bournemouth was able to close the game and secure a win in a last-minute victory against Everton. The match was full of intensity with a strong defense, with both teams unable to make a score. Seamus Coleman scored his own goal, which meant Everton had to give up their chance to score and settle for a draw. Although they had scored a late equalizer, this was also due to an error made by Bournemouth’s goalkeeper. This loss deepens Everton’s relegation woes as they remain just three points clear of the drop zone. Everton’s heartbreaking 2-1 defeat led to Bournemouth’s victory. Chelsea 2–2 Burnley In a game hosted by Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, the match ended with a 2-2 draw. Even though Chelsea started the game strong, they couldn’t continue it until the end. In spite of having much of the ball, the only penalty by Cole Palmer was their only success in the first half. Burnley’s Assignon received a somewhat contentious red card, but Cullen scored for Burnley shortly afterwards and leveled the playing field in the second half. Both teams showcased a strong determination to win, but neither succeeded. Nottingham Forest 1–1 Crystal Palace A Saturday afternoon match features Nottingham Forest as they fight back against Crystal Palace and secure a crucial 1-1 draw in the Premier League. Nottingham Forest were able to lift their team out of the relegation zone with only eight games remaining in the season. Palace did very well in the early minutes of the game, but Forest managed to catch up as their team captain Chris Wood’s second-half header equalized the score and ignited hope for the team. While both teams weren’t able to secure a victory, they both showed exciting games and showed their ability to go up on the spot. Sheffield Utd 3–3 Fulham In a match that happened this Saturday, Sheffield failed to go out of the relegation zone as Fulham made a dramatic comeback. During the first half, Sheffield scored goals, leaving Fulham behind, but despite Fulham being down by two goals in the late second half, they were able to claw their way back for a 3-3 draw. The goal for an equalizer came miraculously from a direct freekick presented by Rodrigo Muniz in injury time. Muniz is on a hot streak, and he has scored goals in eight out of his last eight matches. This game resulted in Sheffield remaining at the bottom of the Premier League. Tottenham 2–1 Luton Tottenham Hotspur came a step closer to a precious final Champions League spot in the Premier League thanks to the late-winning strike by their superstar Son Heung-Min. There was a close encounter against relegation strugglers Luton Town that brought a surprise goal for Luton at the beginning of the match. However, shortly before halftime, Tottenham answered with a deflected shot to tie the score (1-1). The victory was secured when Son scored in the 86th minute, his 15th goal of the season, crossing the goal line. With this win, Tottenham moved up to fourth place, over current Aston Villa, and now has a chance of moving on to the next round of the Champions League.
