England Reaches Back-to-Back Euro Finals with 2-1 Victory Over Netherlands

England advanced to Euro 2024 following a thrilling 2-1 victory against Netherlands as Ollie Watkins made a last-minute goal. England had a great strat as as Phil Foden and Kobbie Mainoo showed an amazing performance. Although a distant goal to the left corner from Xavi Simons in the 7th minute put an early pressure on England, they were able to convert the penalty shot to an equalizing point. After Harry Kane was fouled inside the box, he was given a penalty kick in the 18th minute which he successfully made as he delivered a powerful strike in the bottom left corner.  Both teams failed to score another goal in the remaining time of the first half but after the break, the game became much more intense. The Netherlands posed a greater danger with Wout Weghorst troubling the English backline at times. The Three Lions looked to have won it late on courtesy of Bukayo Saka, but the forward’s goal was ruled out for offside. With the clock running down, however, Cole Palmer found his fellow substitute Ollie Watkins with a perfect pass in the 91th minute, Thanks to this, Watkins made a stoppage banger into the far post giving his team a great advantage with four minutes remaining before the final whistle.  England will contest their second UEFA European Championship final in a row with this victory. They will now face the three-time Euro title holder, Spain with the hope to win their first ever European Championship title.

Yamal’s Record-Breaking Goal Sends Spain to the Finals

The three-time Euro champions, Spain, is just a step closer to winning the championship again. Their outstanding performance gave them the chance to secure a spot in the championship match after they defeated France with a score of 2-1.  Although France took the lead thanks to a free header from Ronaldo Kolo Muani in the 9th minute. Spain made sure that this was their last goal in this season’s tournament. They responded with two consecutive goals to give them the upper hand in the game. Spain’s youngest player Lamine Yamal (16 years old) scored a spectacular long-range goal in the top left corner that equalized the game in the 21st minute. But Yamal’s goal not only gave his team a point but also made him the youngest player to ever score in the European Championship. Spain took advantage of the momentum shift and they finally completed their comeback quite soon. Dani Olmo made another goal in the 25th minute that gave them the first lead of the night. Despite France’s effort to score another goal, they had a hard time doing so.  Spain is the first team of all time to win six consecutive games at the European Championship. They now await for the winner of the England-Netherlands match to play against them in the final match. Lamine Yamal, scorer of the fastest goal in Euro history, will surely play a vital role for Spain as they seek to win their third crown on this continent.
